Meet Kiaro
He came to them in April as an owner surrender. Owner stated she had gotten him on Facebook, and only had him for 1 week. He is approximately 5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm positive. Heartworm treatment will be provided by either Michiana Humane Society or SAR.
He does well with dogs and cats. Only adopters with past German Shepherd or similar breed experience will be considered. Upon assessment with SAR, Kiaro is a great dog who needs a confident owner willing to provide positive reinforcement training. He needs a patient owner willing to go slowly with him, and has some head-shyness. If he feels uncomfortable with your movements, he will provide a light correction, which can seem scary when coming from a 91 lb dog, but does not have the intent to hurt. He also needs some help redirecting his energy when excited. He knows commands and gets along with both men and women. His favorite volunteer at the shelter is a man.
Kiaro loves to play, and will fetch all day. He will add a lot of love and entertainment to the right household!
Although he is located in Michigan City, IN, transportation can be provided for the right adopter.
